I went to florida for two weeks, and i just got bat 3 days ago. I bought a blue iguana juvenille and took him on the twelve hour trip back. i built him a 3'X2' cage with uva, uvb floresent light, and a full spectrum plant light. I have been feeding him romain lettuce, apples, and bell peppers, but he wont eat! so, i went and bought him jump start, which is supposed to make him eat, but he wont. Do you thing he is in shock? I use stress ease. What is wrong? he is about 5" long with tail.

Ok, I will admit that I do not know a huge amount about Iguana's but if they are like most reptiles it may take a while for him to eat because he has to get used to his surroundings. What temp do you have the encloser set to? Also did you ask what he was being fed from where you got him? It may be a change of diet, but most likely it is just getting accustomed to it's new surroundings.

Okay, first of all, that diet is all wrong, and also you are going to need to build him/her a much larger enclosure within the next few months. Lettuce of any kind has no nutrients and your iguana will not live very long on it. For all the information you could ever want on iguanas, go to one of these sites, you will be glad you did. www.kingsnake.com/forum/iguana/ and members2.boardhost.com/greenigsociety/. Those are the message boards. Here are the main sites. www.kingsnake.com and www.greenigsociety.orgPlease visit them. Don't let your iguana down, because you took it out of it's natural habitat, so the least you can do is take proper care of it. Good Luck, John-Paul

It's good that you care enough about your iguana to try and find some info to help him. Many people would just dump him in a ditch, and not give it a second thought. Good job! ;D
